Diplômée architecte-ingénieure de l'École polytechnique d'Athènes, titulaire d'un master en aménagement et maîtrise d’ouvrage urbaine à l’École des Ponts et Chaussées (master AMUR), ainsi que d’un doctorat en géographie urbaine de l’Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Dimitra Kanellopoulou a fondé Politopia en 2018 dans l’objectif d’établir des passerelles entre des disciplines qui, bien qu’étudiants un même objet (ville, territoire), développent nécessairement des perspectives fragmentées en raison de leur spécialisation.
Dimitra Kanellopoulou développe Politopia à travers des collaborations ciblées en France et en Outre-Mer, visant à réunir autour d’une table réaliste de dialogue les maîtres d’ouvrage et les maîtres d’œuvre.
Elle s’appuie sur ses treize années d’expérience dans l’enseignement supérieur public et la recherche, ainsi que sur son expertise opérationnelle, pour soutenir les objectifs de Politopia sur le terrain : une approche ascendante des stratégies de transformation et la valorisation des ressources parfois modestes mais singulières des territoires.Cette position à l'interface constitue la spécificité de Politopia.
